    NEWSLETTERS

The Mother Hips return to San Diego with a two-night stand at the Casbah starting Friday, Nov. 25.

It was a little over a year ago that Tim Bluhm, founder and lead vocalist of the Mother Hips was in a speed flying accident that left him with a shattered pelvis, broken bones, and lots of medical rehab. He and the band are back on the road, I'm sure feeling like there's a lot to be thankful for. The Mother Hips will be at the Casbah tonight and Saturday and they'll be playing two full sets with no openers. Call it a victory lap for Bluhm's recovery, and enjoy them on a small stage they haven't played in a very long time. In the meantime, locals the Lulls (one of San Diego's best new artists and featuring one of SoundDiego's own, Rutger Rosenborg) are at Soda Bar, and Pato Banton is at Winston's. On top of all that, Karl Denson returns to the Belly Up, Hirie is at the Music Box, and Blonde has an amazing lineup of Oasis, Stone Roses, and New Order tributes.
