Feliz Cinco de Mayo. With our proximity to the border, San Diego certainly does it's share of over-celebrating this day of the underdog, celebrating Mexico's unlikely defeat of France at the Battle of Puebla. I guess I'd like to think that around here, we always celebrate the underdog. Like welcoming back Givers to the Casbah. The band made a major splash a few years back and either took a long break or were maybe sidelined by their label who perhaps spent their focus on Mumford and Sons. It doesn't matter, point is that they're back. Meanwhile, Hippo Campus (one of the most cleverly named bands) is at House of Blues' Voodoo Lounge and Slumber is at Soda Bar. Our North County friends will be treated to a special night with Mariachi El Bronx as they play at the Belly Up and Music Box celebrates Cinco with Hijos de Barron at Music Box. For a big fiesta, make your way to the Headquarters for a free performance by our amigos in Nortec Collective.
