Do you ever fall in love with a band and then don't hear from them for awhile? The band doesn't release new material, they stop touring and eventually you find yourself wondering what ever happened to them. Well, just the other day I was wondering what happened to Throw Me the Statue, and lo and behold, my friend tells me that I have to check out a new project called Pillar Point. "Yeah," he said, "it's the guy from Throw Me the Statue and he's playing at the Soda Bar on Sunday. You should write about it." Well, I've listened to the album nonstop since I found it and you can be sure I'll be at Soda Bar tonight. It's got more electronic and dance elements to it than Throw Me the Statue, but it still has that gorgeous melancholy rawness that Scott Reitherman is known for. Check it out if you love sweet indie-rock with an electronic vibe.
