Sounds Like San Diego: May 27

It's Memorial Day, a day of reverence and the unofficial start to summer. There aren't a lot of shows, but the few that are happening are definitely worth your attention. The Void has a great night of fuzzed-out indie rock, and the Cold War Kids play their second sold-out Belly Up show. The show of the night, however, is at the Casbah, where Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman joins up with Nickel Creek's Sean Watkins in their side project, Fiction Family. Foreman's voice is undeniably Switchfoot, but the combined sound with Watkins is very different than what you'd expect, and I think fans will be pleasantly surprised. Jon Cooper of the Howls opens the show with an acoustic set.
