There are a lot of San Diego bands that rise to the "next level." Some start by getting management or lawyers or publicists who work hard on booking or licensing or spreading the word about their band beyond our fair city, but it is pretty magical (pardon the pun) when a band gets handpicked by John Reis to be the first non-Reis release on his Swami Records in ages. It is even cooler that the Swami himself wrote and sent out the band's press release. He writes, "Boxes of LPs and CDs containing Mrs. Magician's debut full length, Strange Heaven, have just landed at the door of Swami Records HQ. I am honored and overjoyed to be the custodian of this artifact." I think San Diego is overjoyed that Swami Records is back in action. With New Mexico and Ditches opening, and Swami spinning vinyl in between, this is going to be the show of the night.
