There's so much great music happening in San Diego on Thursday that I am already feeling guilty that going to one show means sacrificing a handful of others. Mikal Cronin is headlining the Casbah and should fill the house with the support of Mrs. Magician and the Kabbs. Crash & the Burns perform at their home base, El Dorado, with Midnight Pine supporting after blowing away audiences at last weekend's North Park Festival of Arts. Jay Nash and David Ramirez bring some pretty music to the Soda Bar, while the Neighbourhood perform on the intimate 5th Avenue Sidestage at House of Blues. A show especially of note, however, will be the debut of Tide Pools, a project by former Kite Flying Society lead, Dustin Illingsworth. His album, Grief Is a Wilderness, is a tribute to Amy Cole, who died a tragic accidental death in 2010. This has been a really long process for a lot of people in the local music and arts community, so should be a great celebration of catharsis for everyone who attends.
