Sounds Like San Diego: March 8

South by Southwest is just around the corner, which makes it so fun to resurrect this photo from two years ago, as a couple of friends and I made the long, long drive from San Diego to Texas. We met this lovely band at a gas station in the middle of nowhere. They're called Said the Whale from Vancouver, Canada, and they were some of the nicest people we met on our journey. Well, like clockwork, it is two years later and they return on Friday to Soda Bar, opening for the Grass Heat and the View. This is going to be a great show if you can set your priorities. They're facing some stiff competition, however, as Fol Chen headline the Casbah, Why? headline the all-ages Irenic and David Wax Museum makes an appearance at AMSD (Acoustic Music San Diego, located at the church on Mansfield behind the Adams Avenue Rec Center). We've also got Teenage Burritos, Pool Party and Deadly Birds in headlining slots around town, so you're sure to find a great show no matter where you go.
