    NEWSLETTERS

Jimmy Lavalle, shown here with the Album Leaf, returns to San Diego for a Thursday Night Thing show at the Museum of Contemporary Art downtown.

There's so much to do on Thursday night that I would prefer if we just go ahead and agree that it's part of the weekend. First of all, TNT is back at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego! What used to be a monthly event is much more sporatic -- even quarterly might be an overestimate -- but even with the infrequency, this is the IT spot to be. Cocktails, art and music by none other than the Album Leaf's Jimmy Lavalle, who we also don't get to see much since he moved out of town. This is going to be a great night outside and your one official night of the year to justifiably wear a scarf in San Diego. Once that wraps, go to the Casbah for JMSN, who is described by Entertainment Weekly as "(mixing) modern-day R&B melodies with supersmooth yacht rock production and is perhaps more well known for writing hooks for artists like Kendrick Lamar and J Cole." If that isn't your jam, A$AP Ferg brings hip-hop back to the Observatory North Park, Tweak Bird melts Soda Bar, and Jason Bonham's Led Zep Experience returns for its second show at the Belly Up.
