I know I get to live a rock 'n' roll life, but I still get excited when Friday night rolls around and there are so many great shows. You can count on me being over at Soda Bar for the album release party for Hills Like Elephants, who have come together from pieces of other exploratory bands in San Diego. In this iteration, Hills Like Elephants have combined indie rock with enough electronic elements to put them on the cusp of "next great thing" status. With support from the Heavy Guilt, the Black Sands and Sundrop Electric, this is clearly the night's most well rounded offering. Still, the Casbah has some tickets left for indie rock legends the Wedding Present, and Mario Orduño -- who always brings the next big thing to San Diego -- has a lineup at the Whistle Stop. With so many great shows going on, you have no excuse for staying home tonight. And since we can only be at one place at a time, why don't you share your adventures with us on our Facebook page?
