There's a certain decorum involved when a musician from a hugely famous band rolls into town with a side-project. I've seen people embarrass themselves at shows by requesting songs from the more famous of the bands -- always a no-no. The musicians may or may not make themselves available, especially in small venues like the Casbah, but it's still pretty rude to talk to the performing band about the other project. In tonight's case, Peter Buck of R.E.M. will be appearing with his band the Baseball Project, which has entire albums with the national pasttime as the subject. I'm sure Peter is a nice guy, and with the recently released R.E.M. record, I'm sure if he's hanging around he won't mind talking about both, but let him enjoy his space, too.
If songs about baseball doesn't suit your fancy, New Orleans legends Galactic will bring their lively performance to the Belly Up. They're always a good time (and will likely sell out) so grab your tickets now before it's too late.
