There's something to be said for perseverance. The first time I saw Fitz and the Tantrums, the Casbah was pretty empty. They tried to get the small crowd to shake and shimmy along to the music, but it was an uphill battle. Still, the band played through, and after the show, made sure to say hi to everyone who wanted to chat with them, a practice they still do to this day. Nowadays the band is just about everywhere, from its hits playing on radio to huge TV placements like CSI: Miami. The show tonight at the Belly Up is sold out, and for good reason. Fitz and the Tantrums have played San Diego many times in the past two years and along the way have built a loyal following. I like to call the band honorary San Diegans, and I know you'll join me in welcoming them back.
