Ivan and Alyosha
The first time I ever mentioned Imagine Dragons in a column for SoundDiego was back in 2010, and by the time they returned a year later, I was pleading with you to go see them at the Casbah and promising that they were going places. On Monday, the band has a sold-out show at the House of Blues with a summer date at the Open Air Theatre already lined up, so you don't always have to take my word for it, but sometimes I actually do know what I'm talking about.
For that reason, I'm going to recommend that you see Ivan & Alyosha at Soda Bar. Named for Dostoyevsky characters from The Brothers Karamazov, I've seen the Seattle band several times in the past few years as they have been pounding the touring pavement. If you liked all the folkie stuff gone mainstream before it was mainstream, like Mumford & Sons or the Lumineers, this is a band you're going to want to see, even if they lack the simplicity of "heys" and "hos" in their lyrics. The band has captured something really special with their sound and you can witness it at Soda Bar.
