While hundreds (thousands?) of bands make the trek to South By Southwest, it's a great chance for those of us left behind to reacquaint ourselves with San Diego bands. You can do that tonight at the Casbah for Anti-Monday League and be ready for a slaying with Ghetto Blaster. Ryan [Fox, vocalist] has established the band enough these days that references to Fishwife might be lost on the younger crowd, but those of us who lived in San Diego in the '90s remember his energy fondly and still love to see him transform on stage. I don't know much about Ape Machine or Rapscallions but we all know and love Lord Howler around here, so get there early and stay the night. At Soda Bar you'll find Tacocat and Teenage Burritos and you won't find more complementary band names than those, I suppose. Get familiar with your city tonight. Just don't regret it in the morning.
