Tonight is a great night for music, and though San Diego's hip-hop devotees might disagree, you just might be tickled by tonight's options. At the Soda Bar, you have Busdriver, a rapper who has graced the major festival stages, but only after building his own following with smart lyrics and smooth rhymes. Supported by Nocando and Open Mike Eagle, he might just bring out the backpack-wearing head-bobbers, but you should give the show a chance if you're trying to diversify your musical palette. Down at the Casbah, tongue-in-cheek sequin queen Leslie & the Lys will give you a jaw-dropping "is this really happening right now?" kind of feeling. Supported by Pennyhawk and Ramona & the Swimsuits...well, let the names speak for themselves. But it is local caped crusader Grammatical B, (aka Casbah bartender Ben Johnson) who will really set the mood for the night. If you want to stick to rock n' roll, check out Hills Like Elephants at Bar Pink who have a new record coming out soon. (Spoiler alert: it's awesome!)
