Sounds Like San Diego: June 7

Modest Mouse heads up a Sunday of epic proportions in San Diego

Last year, I was working doing marketing for the North Park Theatre (under the previous owners), and I arrived to work one day with the best news: Modest Mouse was going to set a surprise date at the venue after some shows in Mexico. I set up ticketing and prepared an email blast and was pretty much bouncing off the walls with excitement. Unfortunately, that all was shattered when the band realized there was no way they'd be able get their gear through customs in time for a proper show and sound check and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that has to happen to pull off a show of that kind. Fast forward to today, and finally Modest Mouse is returning to San Diego for 91x's X-Fest, with perhaps the most aggressive and diverse lineup to date. Along with heritage bands like the Cult, Pennywise and Public Enemy, relative newcomers like Palma Violets, the Orwells, and Robert Delong make this a pretty amazing mini-festival. Of course, get there early for locals Shady Francos and bring your sunscreen, because it's going to be a long day.
