Sounds Like San Diego: June 29

World Party Time! Excellent!

I was in junior high when World Party released "Goodbye, Jumbo," and it didn't take long for it to be one of my favorite albums of the time. It was the band's sophomore full-length, but it went on to receive a Grammy Award nomination in 1990. They went on to release three more albums along with some best of compilations and remixes -- and if, like me, you never caught them in the '90s, you can catch them tonight at the Belly Up. Meanwhile, Ema returns to the Casbah, Sarah McLachlan will make you weep at Humphrey's, and our promoter friend Lauren Ruggles is back from Los Angeles with a lineup of killer bands at Soda Bar.
