Sounds Like San Diego: June 28

Toad the Wet Sprocket heads up the live-music throwdowns in San Diego Sunday

It has been a really great weekend for music, but as we head in to the work week, inevitably things are gonna slow down a bit. Of course, there are still worthwhile events today, like the final day of Summer Fun on the 101. AMSD -- also known as Acoustic Music San Diego -- recently reopened to shows, and tonight welcome Kim Richey. At Soda Bar, you have Jo Harris & the Tough Choices, while Casbah has an interesting show with Japanese instrumental act MONO. The '90s girl in me, however, got pretty excited when I heard that Tonic and Toad the Wet Sprocket were coming to town. They're supporting Smash Mouth at Humphreys, which I guess makes sense to some agent somewhere, but is a little weird if you were fans of any or all three of the bands back in the day. Still, it might be worth busting out your canoe or kayak just for a bit of '90s nostalgia.
