Sounds Like San Diego: June 2

There are some big things happening in San Diego on Sunday. First, it's the return of the Rock & Roll Marathon. With a full and half-marathon snaking through the streets of San Diego, there are several stages around our neighborhoods that will be jumping with local music as runners pass by, and for the first time ever, the half-marathon will be going through areas of North Park, Kensington and Normal Heights to really highlight the beautiful neighborhoods in which we reside. Of course, if you're like me, chances are you'll just be going to sleep as runners are getting up for their race day, in which case street closures will leave you mostly unaffected. The other really exciting thing about Sunday is that there are four amazing women taking headlining slots and battling for musical supremacy. Chvrches have really pushed through the indie-rock world with some catchy tunes, and the sold-out crowd at the Belly Up will certainly appreciate this much-anticipated show. Around town, however, you can still get tickets to Lenka at the Soda Bar, see Tristan Prettyman for free at Fiesta del Sol, or see one of my musical heroines, Lisa Loeb, as she headlines the Casbah along with Gayle Skidmore.
