Sounds Like San Diego: June 15

Reeve Carney plays the Casbah Thursday -- much to the delight of his star-eyed faithful

I try not to emphasize appearances when I write about music, but when I see Reeve Carney, I think about "Zoolander," because he's really, really, really good looking. Don't be surprised then, if you go to the Casbah if you see a large ratio of women to men in the room. But looks can only get you so far in the biz, as they say, and Carney's vocal range is incredibly impressive, which makes tonight's show a top contender for what to do tonight. Meanwhile, Tin Roof hosts a Battle of the Bands, where our own Verigolds take on LA's Avi Buffalo for an opening slot for the Naked And Famous when they play this year's Tour de Fat. Meanwhile, '90s Southern alt-rockers Sister Hazel play the Paddock at the Fair, A Giant Dog brings punk to Soda Bar (read the SoundDiego interview here), and the Circle Jerks' Zander Schloss plays Space.
