This weekend ushers in the annual tradition of the San Diego County Fair. Along with all the rides, food and vendors, the summer concert series kicks off tonight with Pat Benetar on the main stage and is certain to bring back memories of fairs of your youth.

However, if you're not quite ready for fair food, there are some great shows to catch at the usual haunts, including the Love Grenades, who captured everyone's attention at their recent San Diego debut at the Casbah. Tonight they'll be playing a free show at Robin Roth's Pussy Galore at the Whistle Stop. Over at Soda Bar, the Heavy Guilt play their last show until their July CD release party, so catch them while you can. In Middletown, Jenny and Johnny are sold out at the Casbah, but the Casbah is also presenting rock legends X over at 4th & B, with tickets still available. Dudes, the Speculators, Yellowcard and even Barefoot Hockey Goalie top bills around the city.
