Sometimes it pains me just how vibrant and lush the music scene is here in San Diego. I mean, it's a Friday night, and there are all of these great shows, and the likelihood is that I'll really have to choose just one. For me, the choice is obvious, because when your favorite musician for more than a decade (Rocky Votolato) comes to town, there is no way I'm going to miss him. That means, however, that I'm sacrificing an amazing lineup for Robin Roth's fourth anniversary of Pussy Galore, with Hotel St. George and Grand Tarantula (plus, it's free!). It also means I'm going to miss Steve Poltz over at Lestat's, and we can be sure that he's going to have a whole new batch of stories from the road. The New Kinetics are getting some local buzz going, and they're up at the Tin Can, Berkley Hart has a CD release over at Swedenborg Hall, and Soda Bar has a solid top to bottom lineup, too. You can't do it all, but doing nothing tonight would be a huge mistake.
