Not since Vampire Weekend and MGMT were all the rage has a band demanded quite as much attention as Foster the People. It was on a whim that I walked into the Austin Convention Center back during SxSW and saw the band performing to an awkward crowd of music journalists, bloggers and kids with hangovers just trying to enjoy the air conditioned room. For a Saturday afternoon, though, it was pretty obvious these kids were going places, and sure enough, they went from playing the Soda Bar to a small handful of people to selling out the Belly Up and the House of Blues -- and they already have another San Diego show planned in the fall at Soma. Tonight's tickets are coveted, and with Gardens and Villa opening, this is your winning show of the night.
