Sounds Like San Diego: July 29

Savages make their heralded return to San Diego Friday

If you can't find someplace awesome to be tonight, I really don't know what to tell you. The Summer Concert Series continues at the track with one of our favorites, Fitz & the Tantrums. Last week I had to do a little research and calculated the Fitz played San Diego 18 times between 2009 and 2013, so when he tells you that they consider our city their home away from home, you should believe him. It's been a few years, so this one is going to be like a homecoming. Meanwhile, Savages perform at the Observatory, which stands out to me because Casbah owner Tim Mays, who books over 500 shows a year in San Diego, declared them the best show at the Casbah in years after their 2015 appearance. Still not enough choices? The sultry Zella Day performs at the Quartyard, which we should enjoy before the space is developed with yet another highrise, and local boys the Kneehighs celebrate a CD release at the Casbah. There are great options all the way down the line tonight, so get out and enjoy a laid back Friday in San Diego.
