    NEWSLETTERS

Jesse LaMonaca is among the performers celebrating Deering Banjos 40th anniversary in San Diego County.

Just because all of the tweens and teens are going to be at Sleep Train for 5 Seconds of Summer doesn't mean there aren't plenty of things for the rest of us to do. The Mowgli's return to town with a show at the Oceanside Pier, and Quel Bordel have am album release at the Casbah. Foreign Bodies shake things up at the Balboa, while '90s stalwarts Third Eye Blind are joined by Dashboard Confessional and Night Terrors of 1927 at the Events Center at Harrah's Resort Southern California. The coolest event of the night, however, is being thrown by Deering Banjos, which is celebrating 40 years in San Diego with a party aboard the Star of India. The Kruger Brothers headline that shindig, with Jesse Lamonaca & Brian Holwerda, Josh Damigo and Gayle Skidmore all playing for your entertainment. There's plenty to choose from on Saturday, just keep in mind that Pride is going to keep the streets busy all day and night.
