Dixie Chicks headline Sleep Train Amphitheatre on Friday, July 15.

It is such an exciting time in San Diego right now. To go back to back with the All-Star Game, Pride, and Comic-Con next week, maybe the rest of the country will finally acknowledge that we're not just a sleepy seaside town. We already know that San Diego rocks, however, so no matter what anyone thinks, just take a look at tonight's shows to see that we've got it going on. One of my personal faves, We Are Scientists, return to town with a show in the House of Blues Voodoo Room, Pride events kick off throughout Hillcrest and Balboa Park, and even Imperial Beach's Sandcastle tournament has been upgraded to the the "Sun & Sea Festival." The outspoken and amazing Dixie Chicks are at Sleep Train Amphitheatre, Seshollowaterboyz bring hip-hop to the Observatory, and Phoebe Ryan and Cardiknox play back to back at Casbah. Keep an eye out for supergroup the Falcon at Ken Club to bring late-night action to Adams Avenue, but don't write off 88 Fingers Louie at Soda Bar or the big New Orleans party that Cowboy Mouth will bring to Music Box. So much to do tonight and all weekend so use your noodle and lay a good base, stay hydrated, get a designated driver, and by all means, pace yourself to last all weekend long.
