Over the years I've heard people talk about Lucinda Williams shows with a bit of cheekiness. "You never know which Lucinda might show up," my friend told me. Fortunately, when I finally had the opportunity to see her perform last year, she was jovial and played a massive set. She's been criticized for having a songbook on stage with her, but when you're as prolific as she is, it's really a nice touch because she handled a solid set and dozens of requests, too. On Wednesday, the singer performs a sold-out show at the Belly Up and it is definitely the hottest ticket in town. Around town, the Beautiful View return to the Casbah, Noel, TJ and Sean offer up great tunes at Tin Can and Lord Howler melts faces at Bar Pink.
