Sounds Like San Diego: January 7

In most major music markets, a residency can make or break a band. A hot new indie group might even go so far as bi-coastal residencies, and I've seen bands perform in New York and Los Angeles back to back over the course of a few weeks just to get in front of enough eyeballs and earholes to spark up some blog and other media buzz. There have been a few successful residencies over the past few years in San Diego with a similar goal, but I don't recall any going head to head as is the case this month. Over at the Soda Bar, Barbarian kick off their residency while Family Wagon start theirs at the Casbah. Both bands are worth your while and have lined up some stellar support acts over the next few weeks, so instead of choosing for you, I'll just say that I suggest you catch both bands at least once each this month. You can thank me later.
