Sounds Like San Diego: February 4

I was born and raised in San Diego -- well ... Chula Vista, specifically -- but growing up in this area, you become aware of a certain sensibility. Some people call it "bro" culture; there was a time when it was more "brah," and I'm not really sure how it was referenced before that. But let's face it, everywhere you turn, surfers and body boarders and beach culture, further influenced by island culture, permeates the San Diego lifestyle. With it, the musical tastes are influenced, too. Pepper hails from Hawaii, and they are wildly popular in SoCal. They sell out every single time they come to town, and Tuesday is no exception (though there were still some loft seats available at press time). It's feel-good music for dudes who'd rather be in flip-flops than shoes, and on Tuesday, they'll be packed in at the Belly Up -- and on Wednesday, too, when they play the second night of their stand..
