Stimy's last show in San Diego was October 9, 2010. He was planning on returning permanently when he suddenly passed in December.

It was a sad day in December when word quickly spread among the music community that Micheal "Stimy" Steinman had passed away. Beloved among the San Diego music community, he had been making arrangements to return to our fair city after more than a year of sobriety when a heart condition took his life at just 37 years old.
Because his wings spread far and wide, planning his benefit has been a huge undertaking from friends across state lines, but tonight those plans are finally in action, with great local bands from Stimy's era paying tribute. Extra special will be seeing Mitch Wilson of No Knife filling Stimy's shoes for a set by Sub Society. If you didn't get tickets, it might be too late, but supposedly there will be another memorial show on Saturday at the Ken Club.
