There are a handful of people in San Diego who are truly devoted to the music scene. They're in it for the long haul, whether their time and efforts get noticed or not, all for the love and belief in the strength of local music. Catheryn Beeks is one such person, and week after week, she puts together music showcases around town. These are mostly acoustic shows, and because she gives everyone a chance, you might see some great new talent destined for stardom play alongside a guitar hobbyist who just wants to play some songs for a small crowd. The loyal crowd she has developed is a welcoming family of fans and musicians, and her Local Brews Local Grooves nights stand out as something fun and different to do, especially if you're on a budget (they're always free).
