Sounds Like San Diego: Dec. 18

San Diego has been glistening at night, and for us night owls, the sparkly lights are a reminder that there is still life in this city despite inclement weather, chilly nights and that urgent desire to nestle at home under a warm blanket. If you take a leap of faith, you'll be transported on Thursday back to an era ruled by mods on Vespas, with their smart clothes and intellectual conversations. Manual Scan have been performing for a couple decades, though not so much in recent years, and it's an amazing thing for the young'uns to see Bart Mendoza, who spends most of his time writing about local music, actually being local music. Around town, catch Corners at the Hideout, Stephen Rey at Sycamore Den or step out of the zone and catch Gilbert Castellanos at Croce's Park West or a hip-hop show at Winston's in OB.
