Barbarian open the Arctic Monkeys show at SDSU's Open Air Theatre Wednesday.
This has been an awesome week for music. Maybe we have Lollapalooza to thank, or Outside Lands (more likely), but we have some amazing bands rolling through town. Tonight we have the awesome Jagwar Ma at the Casbah and Arctic Monkeys at SDSU's Open Air Theatre, both of which are sold out. But the big news in all that is that San Diego's Barbarian has been selected to open for Arctic Monkeys. I'm not sure what went down to make it happen, but it is a huge perk for the band, and a small win for all local bands who just might be on the radar of someone who makes such decisions. If you haven't heard, Barbarian is also headlining our Aug. 29 SoundDiego LIVE Platinum party at Bar Pink -- RSVP here to get in for free. Some shows that haven't sold out yet that might be of interest include Josh Damigo at Tin Can, New Madrid at Soda Bar, and Ex-Cult at Til-Two Club.
