Sounds Like San Diego: August 5

The Last Shadow Puppets head into San Diego -- maybe for the final time

In marking the first Friday of August, it feels a little premature to call summer over, but if you are in school or the parent of school-aged children, the days off are seriously winding down. The good news is that we have so much to look forward to until those days are gone. Today at Qualcomm Stadium, you're going to want to load up on the zinc-oxide as another Warped Tour rolls through town. Whether you're looking to catch the new up-and-comers or going for the legacy acts like New Found Glory and Yellowcard, you can seriously get a full dose of pop-punk, punk, screamo, emo and the like (check out the SoundDiego interview with one of this year's performers Capsize). If you want to dance your ass off, master sampler Girl Talk appears at the track after tonight's final race. The show that everyone I know is excited about, however, is the Last Shadow Puppets, because with Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys at the helm of this supergroup, it's hard to think of a more charismatic performer of this generation. At press time, a few tickets are still available, but don't wait to buy because I guarantee you this band will be at a much larger venue the next time they roll through town (if ever again!).
