Instead of pumping you up about nighttime shows, I'm going to once again encourage you to get out in the sunlight. The Lafayette Hotel had some serious renovations in the past couple years, and every Sunday they've been offering up something cool. Sunday is no exception, with bands like Barbarian and Crash & the Burns (formerly Bully, and featuring members of Dirty Sweet) playing poolside as your favorite tunes are spun by local mixmasters, with even Jeremiah Zimmerman of the Silent Comedy making his DJ debut. After a day by the pool, head up to the Belly Up to see Orgone, who will be performing with local drummer Jake Najor of the Styletones and the Fire Eaters. David Dondero is over at the Soda Bar, which will be great, and El Vez performs at the Casbah for a multi-costume politically satirical night of your favorite Elvis songs with political and Chicano-pride lyrics. I know you expect a dull Sunday, but you're just not going to get that in San Diego.
