Old Tiger took the stage about 8:30.

Generally, I would like to think that I am fair in posting about shows around San Diego, but after last night's San Diego Music Awards, there really is no shame in my game. San Diego has an amazing music scene, but when I feel like I'm a part of bringing those bands to light -- with the most modesty I can summon, I have to say I'm really proud. On Tuesday night, I have booked a show at the Casbah with four bands for 6 bucks, and I am pretty sure that if you haven't already embraced these bands, you will soon. Old Tiger is one of my personal favorites, but these guys have paved their own path all over San Diego and are really so solid that you should check them out if you haven't already. Lowly Spects is the band of a friend from Orange County. He's backed up my friend, Tyson Motsenbocker, and has an amazing project on his own and is worth checking out. Personally I'm just sold by an awesome banjo player. Western Scene features Tom Pritchard from Dynamite Walls, so just imagine his soaring vocals with a tighter sound and more of a dancy feel to it, and then Michael McGraw opens the show with his perfect vocals that make me want to broadcast his name in shiny lights or aerial skywriting to make you all realize that he is one of San Diego's best current songwriters. Seriously, trust me. Tonight is going to thrill the ears if you only get yourself out on a Tuesday night.
