I have been excited about tonight since I first heard back in mid-January that Head and the Heart were returning to San Diego. The band is one of the few that brings me to tears -- when vocalist/violinist Charity Thielen gets to that big solo part of "Rivers and Roads," I just can't help myself. From small shows at Casbah to Belly Up, House of Blues, the Observatory and now Soma, the band is just incredible live and it has been too long since they've graced our fine town. Their latest effort, "Signs of Light," shows a band changing and maturing, but still bringing fans the sound they love so much. Around town, Aaron Neville plays a sold out show at Belly Up, the Casbah hosts a benefit for Rock & Roll Camp for Girls, and classically trained piano virtuoso Ching-Meng Cheng performs at the California Center for the Arts Escondido.
