Little Green Cars roll back into town for a show at the Irenic.

OK, Ok, I know the big show of the night is Elvis Costello at the Balboa Theatre, and there's really nothing I can say about the legend that hasn't been said before, and since there aren't any tickets left, if you don't mind, we'll talk about some other shows to catch on Thursday instead. For one, Little Green Cars are headlining the Irenic. The one and only time I saw this band was in 2013, when they opened for Wild Nothing. I was so impressed by the show that I picked up a record and T-shirt that night. That same year they played SXSW and Coachella, among other shows. Now, three years have passed, and the Irish band is still on Glassnote records and touring in support of their sophomore record, Ephemera. Around town, eukelele master Jake Shimabukuru returns to the Californica Center for the Arts, Escondido; the jam-band Moe. are at the Observatory, Acid Dad are at Soda Bar, and the Casbah hosts a local benefit for AIDS Life Cycle.
