Sounds Like San Diego: April 28

Kings of Leon play Mattress Firm Amphitheatre Friday.

Years ago, I was at a festival with both Kings of Leon and Interpol as headliners. The story goes that the two bands had a beef and while Interpol played, Kings of Leon went into their dressing room and let out their dog, and afterward several dozen festival-goers like myself spread out in search of it. I never really found out if the story was true, but I never quite forgave the band for it. Maybe it's time to let go of the grudge because the Followill rock powerhouse is in town at Mattress Firm Amphitheatre (that will take some getting used to). With Deerhunter in tow, this is going to be a great way to kick off the Chula Vista concert season. If you're looking for more of a low-key kind of night, the lovely Sallie Ford and Molly Burch perform at the Casbah. Dennis Quaid, another actor-moonlighting-as-a-rocker, plays the Belly Up, post-punkers Ne-Hi play Space, and Irish "deathgrind" band Condemned melt faces at Soda Bar.
