Tonight is quite a fun night around town. For starters, Thao & the Get Down Stay Down perform at the Belly Up. Her new record, "A Man Alive," is one of those albums that you sing along with at the top of your lungs, only to sink in to the deeper meaning of the lyrics later, like realizing "Nobody Dies" is about a woman caught in an abusive relationship. Thao has a knack for this, making her music fun and catchy while addressing a whole lot more under the surface. I've been looking forward to this one for a while. Meanwhile, La Ley are back at the House of Blues for their second night, so lovers of rock en Espanol should be properly satiated.
