There are a few standout shows tonight. The beautiful Jessica Lea Mayfield, who, according to an interview, sleeps with a shotgun next to her bed, sings gorgeous songs, though she's got a rough punk edge to her that makes her songwriting a bit more real than others' in the genre. Last time she played, she mounted her brother's stand-up bass as she rocked her guitar, so don't think by any means that this one is gonna be a sleeper. Over on the other side of town, Spectrum return to Soda Bar. Fans of the band and Spacemen 3 will certainly have their fun tonight. The last show was packed, so I suggest you get there early.
