Garage to Glory Heroes!

After two weeks and thousands of votes, SoundDiego LIVE fans finally know who won the opening slot for this month's hit-and-run party.

For January's Garage to Glory contest -- our digital battle of the bands -- SoundDiego LIVE host and FM 94/9 DJ Tim Pyles chose two young bands, the nFormals and the Hero Inside.

"The Hero Inside reminds me of a cross between the Strokes and maybe Interpol," Pyles said. "Great new band from the South Bay. I met some of the members when they were just 16 in another band. This is the new thing!"

"The nFormals are another great new local band on the scene," Pyles added. "They have songs that will make you want to sing along, and Josh, the frontman, will make you! Songs and talent -- what more do you need?"

With 2,083 votes -- just 39 more than the nFormals -- the Hero Inside nudged out the competition to claim the musical glory. The band will likely be featured in SoundDiego LIVE coverage in multiple NBC 7 San Diego newscasts, and will be seen in online video and photo coverage on both SoundDiego and NBCSanDiego, and all our social media platforms. Twenty-four hours after SoundDiego LIVE on Jan. 26, more than 100,000 music fans will know have heard the Hero Inside's name and music. They'll be in good company: This month's SoundDiego LIVE also features perfomances by Stephen Rey & the Slicks and Kera & the Lesbians.
