RSVP Now: SoundDiego LIVE Tonight!

The Devastators and Deadly Birds are crashing Thursday's SoundDiego LIVE party at Winston's.

Get your Labor Day Weekend started with SoundDiego LIVE at Winstons on Thursday, with the Devastators and Deadly Birds.

Per usual, this party’s lineup has something to offer to all walks of San Diego music fans. FM 94/9’s Tim Pyles will be on hand Aug. 29 in Ocean Beach to emcee the festivities, and local favorites the Devastators and Deadly Birds will both perform. And as always, our friends at Jack Daniel's will treat music fans to a VIP sponsored happy hour that kicks off at 7 p.m.

After making the rounds for over a decade, the Devastators are one of the area’s most-tested reggae groups and ideal for the headlining spot. Pinning them down as strictly a reggae band would be unfair -- their sound is a notably sleek crossbreed of dub, rock and funk. Winstons is the Devastators home turf, so expect a tight set from the OB vets.

For those of you with more of a rock taste, Deadly Birds hold the distinction of being one of the fuzziest collectives of bluesmen in town. They could easily be considered key players in the garage-rock revival that 's been strong in recent years in San Diego.

But that’s not all: Two up-and-coming acts will battle it out for the opening slot in our monthly Garage 2 Glory digital battle of the bands. The competitors for this event’s edition of G2G are the Filthy Violets, who serve up a healthy dose of classic indie-rock jams, and Mad Traffic, who dabble in the sounds of triumphant 2000s era alt-rock. Vote for your favorite HERE once a day. We'll announce a winner Aug. 27.

On the off-chance you enjoy all that delicious whiskey a little too much at one of our events, we've got you covered there, too. The folks from BeMyDD will be on hand.

Just a reminder: SoundDiego LIVE is free, but you must be at least 21 to attend.
