Sounds Like San Diego: May 25

Jefferson Starship play a sold-out Belly Up Thursday, but if you didn't snag tickets, you've got options

I can appreciate that baby boomers have increasingly been supporting live music. Perhaps it has always been this way, but it feels like maybe Desert Trip has reminded a lot of people how much they loved live music, so in that respect, it's no surprise that Jefferson Starship is sold out tonight at the Belly Up and that Humphreys, House of Blues, and other venues have been successful bringing tours of classic artists through town. If you didn't snag your tickets, however, why not support beautiful young acts? NPR said, "LA Takedown is a seven-piece rock band with three lead guitarists and a love for epic shredding," and tonight you can catch them playing their 42-minute single track at the Casbah. Meanwhile, Soda Bar welcomes Italian glam-punkers Giuda before they head to Vegas for Punk Rock Bowling. For your electronic dance fix, check Mono/Poly at Space, while Celtic Woman drench you in a night of Irish music at Civic Theatre.
