The first weekend of Coachella is upon us. If you won’t be making the trek to the desert, there are plenty of fun events in San Diego to keep you occupied all weekend.

Friday night, it’s Pussy Galore’s free monthly night at the Whistle Stop. The Darrows and Snakesuit play live and I’ll be DJing with Terryn S throughout the night. Grab more details here. The Expendables Life’s A Beach Tour with the O.S.S. and Pacific Dub hits House Of Blues. One of the bands hitting San Diego before Coachella this weekend is Kurt Vile & the Violators. Kurt has a new album out this month and is headlining at the Casbah on Friday.

Saturday, Club Sabbat takes over both rooms of Numb3rs. I’ll be DJing in the main room with Bloodline, and Severin will keep it old school in the back room. Anchor Bay Films will be on hand with giveaways for the new Rob Zombie movie The Lords of Salem. Check out more details about this theme night via this link. Liquid Geometry takes over the Kava Lounge and Bootie Bassment with DJs Dimitri and Rob is at the Whistle Stop. On the live music tip, Mudhoney are celebrating their 25th anniversary this month with a show at the Casbah on Saturday. Your ticket info is here.

Then gear up for a whole lot of Coachella bands and DJs hitting San Diego in between the two weekends. Next week will be super busy, including Franz Ferdinand on Monday at Humphreys plus a sold-out show with Foals and the Neighbourhood at Porters Pub. Tuesday it’s Alt-J at the Belly Up and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds at the Balboa Theatre. Both are sold out. Plus, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. fame performs at the Casbah and Nicky Romero hits Voyeur that night. On Wednesday, it's Tegan & Sara at Humphreys, Alex Clare at House of Blues, the Faint at Fluxx and Dirtyphonics at Voyeur.

Have a great weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
