It's the End of the World. Let's Party!

You'll be singing along with the R.E.M. song all weekend long at apocalypse parties, says DJ Robin Roth's

It’s the end of the world as we know it, and we feel fine! That’s what we’ll be singing all weekend long.

In the meantime, kick things up a notch Thursday with Dublin Mob’s XXXmas, featuring members of Royal Crown Revue, with Eddie Nichols, Stephen Rey & the Sex Trash, Hands Down South and Miss Erika Davies at the Casbah. This is sure to be a good time, and you can get more info here. More live music goodness at the Shakedown Bar, with Mondo Generator (Nick Oliveri of Kyuss, Dwarves, Queens of the Stone Age), Lord Howler, Revenge Death Ball and Fantasy Arcade. Makeout Weird has its monthly night at the Whistle Stop, and features Micha Cardenas and Zach Blas. Plus, DJs Lee Reynolds, Raul Garcia and Mnstrpsy. Elsewhere, Le Spank at the Office welcomes Saul Q vs. Ikah Love, Liquid Geometry presents the Apocalypse at the Kava Lounge, and DJ Claire rocks Bar Pink.

For your end-of-the-world fix, Lovelife presents the Last Xmas, with No Regular Play live at Analog Bar (free entry before 10 p.m. with your RSVP; grab more info here). You can also celebrate at the  Belly Up with Dead Feather Moon, the Heavy Guilt and Trouble in the Wind. At the Casbah, Low Volts is having a CD release party for Oh My Stars. Also performing are Grand Tarantula, Restavrant and Dirty Sirens. Get more details via this link. Other events include the Burning of Rome headlining the Soda Bar, the End of the World Ugly Sweater Party with DJs Kid Wonder, Third-Twin and the Office Twins at Quality Social, and the Ruby Room hosts an End of the World Dance Party. Plus, one of my favorite dance nights, F--ing in the Bushes, is at the Whistle Stop. This indie and Brit-pop night features DJs Rob Moran and Daniel Sant, so you can enjoy “this last night on earth.”

On Saturday, the British Invasion Xmas Party at House of Blues features four tribute bands: Britain’s Finest (Beatles), Kenny Metcalf (Elton John), the Distractions (Elvis Costello & the Attractions) and Really Idol (Billy Idol). Steve West of 91X hosts the event. You can get more details here. I’ll be DJing for Club Sabbat at Numb3rs in Hillcrest, along with birthday boy Atom, as we take over the front room. Get info via this link.

Let the celebrations commence this weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
