Riot on the Dance Floor

Hope you had a great holiday weekend. Even though Labor Day has come and gone, summer isn’t over by any means, especially here in San Diego. So, break out your white pumps and stroll all over town for some fun nightlife action.

Thursday will not disappoint: Atari Teenage Riot hits Porter's Pub at UCSD for an all-ages show. Retox will be doing their record-release party there, plus you’ll enjoy special guest Otto Von Schirach. Word is that the place will be nutso! Info via this link. If you are planning on venturing downtown, AC Slater and the Juggernaut will rock Voyeur. Check out more details here.

Friday boasts a pre-Abstract party, with Mord Fustang headlining the festivities at Tango Del Rey for an 18-and-over event. In addition, the San Diego Music Thing kicks off a two-night showcase extravaganza at venues all over town, including one I’m hosting  at the Whistle Stop Friday that features Love Grenades, 8mm, Miss Erika Davies and the Secret Seven. You can get more details about the SDMT via the official website.

If you are a fan of electronic dance music, there is so much to choose from Saturday night. The Abstract Festival hits the San Diego Bayfront, with a stellar lineup that includes Flying Lotus, Arty, Mimosa, Tritonal, Global Deejays, Tommy Trash, Glenn Morrison, Jokers of the Scene, Reso, Minnesota, Virtu and more. The fun is from 5 p.m. to midnight, and its 18-plus to party and 21-and-over to drink. Get details via this link. Further north, Bassnectar hits the RIMAC Arena at UCSD as the Divergent Spectrum Tour rolls out with Z-Trip, Big Gigantic and Amp Live. This all-ages event starts at 6:30 p.m. and goes till around 11:30 p.m. There will be a beer garden for those 21 and up. For ticket info, go here. On the other side of the musical spectrum, check out Club Sabbat at the Flame in Hillcrest. San Diego’s classiest gothic, industrial and fetish night features yours truly spinning in the main room, along with Diskdroid; plus, Ladynoir will be keeping it old school in the back room. Get more info here.
