This is one of those San Diego weekends where there is just so much going on -- here’s just a sampling of events that caught my eye:

On Friday, San Diego CityBeat presents A Night at the Besties – their 11th annual Best of San Diego celebration. The event at Space 4 Art will feature live music from three 2013 San Diego Music Awards nominees – Roy Rapid & the Rhythm Rock Trio, Gilbert Castellanos & His Hammond B3 Trio (Castellanos took home three awards, including Artist of the Year), plus the Burning of Rome, who claimed the Best Album award. This event will benefit ArtReach, an organization that bring professional artists to elementary schools throughout San Diego County and provides standards-based visual-art workshops.

Other picks for Friday include the sold-out Jack Johnson show at the Balboa Theatre; Pepper with RDGLDGRN at House of Blues; TSOL at the Shakedown Bar; and Oh, Spirit, Brothers Weiss and Chess Wars at the Ken Club.  You can also get your Brit-pop dance on with F---ing in the Bushes at the Whistle Stop or El Puro Party with DJs Adam Salter and Kid Wonder at El Camino.

On Saturday night, the 91X Next Big Thing show with Ms Mr is at Soda Bar, and tickets are only 91 cents at the door. One of my other live-music picks is Sleigh Bells at Block 16 (we're giving away five pairs of tickets -- enter HERE). There will also be more dancing at the Whistle Stop for ‘80s vs. ‘90s, with DJs Gabe Vega and Saul. Plus, Brazzabelle hits Voyeur; it’s free before 10:30 p.m. with your RSVP.

On Sunday, Supersuckers headline at the Casbah (moved from Soda Bar). Plus, Dave Chappelle is doing a sixth show in San Diego on Sunday night. Last time I checked, there were still some tickets left, so get them while you can.

Have a great weekend and I'll see you on the dance floor!
