Napoleon Returns

Another weekend is upon us in San Diego. Summer is in full effect and time is flying by. I can’t believe it’s already August. Needless to say, gotta get in as much fun as we can on the dance floor. Here are just a few of my picks:

Early in the evening Thursday, I recommend checking out TNT at the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art on Kettner Boulevard. Two San Diego Music Award nominees will be performing on the North Plaza: The Nervous Wreckords and Republic of Letters. Plus, DJs Skyler Mic and 88:88 will be providing the beats in the Farrell Gallery. The fun starts at 7 p.m.; for more details go here

This past Wednesday, Pendulum did an 18-plus DJ set, and they are back for another round with the 21-plus crowd on Thursday night at VoyeurDan Sena will do opening honors. For more info, check out this link

On Friday, Feel the Noise at U-31 is the place to be for Audrey Napoleon, one of my favorite female spinsters in the electronic music industry (plus, resident DJ Gabe Vega and guest Adam Salter, of Nite Vision/Boys and Girls). This event will be hosted by Sack Magazine; for more info go here.

Saturday, join me for a night of dark underground music at Club Ascension. This monthly night at the Kava Lounge will feature special guest DJs Aeon (Warsaw) and Michael (Europa, Newvision, Die Welle). Resident DJs/hosts Tom King and yours truly will also be spinning. GVA will be on hand for a charity drive to benefit the Second Chance Program in San Diego. They are asking you to bring new and unused toiletries, such as shampoos, hairbrushes, socks and toothpaste. For a complete list, visit the organization’s official website. The person who brings the most items to donate will win tickets to see KMFDM Sunday at the Belly UpGothic Volunteer Alliance thanks you in advance. Check out more info about the night via this link.

Other Thursday through Saturday events are listed in my blog. Have fun this weekend and I’ll see you on the dance floor!

Robin Roth is a familiar voice in the San Diego scene.  She is on the air weekdays from 10am to 2pm on 91X, plus she promotes and spins all over town.  For more info about upcoming gigs, check out her event blog. Follow Robin on Twitter @robin_roth or submit your DJ listings here.
