Lights, Camera, Dance Floor!

If you’re looking for a dance party, San Diego is the place to be Thursday night. One of my picks is the Simian Mobile Disco DJ Set at Voyeur. And just down the street, you can get funky at Liplock, a disco/boogie/house party like no other inside the Delta Room at House Of Blues. On the DJ roster, Cosmic Dan from Los Angeles, Wero from TJ, Kimbo plus Boys Don’t Disco vs. Colour Vision. Hosting the event will be an array of local funsters, including themixster.com and MayStar. Entry is free all night long with your RSVP. Plus, dance party shenanigans at Fluxx with She Wants Revenge headlining the night. Add DJs Gabe Vega and Junior to the mix and you’ve got one hell of a party lined up.  Details via this link.

Friday enjoy the dark cabaret stylings of London Below at the Ruby Room. Formerly known at the Tragic Tantrum, this is their first show under the new name. One of my other favorite local bands, the Burning of Rome, will also be playing. Plus, I’m looking forward to seeing both Roswell That End Well and Interrobang for the first time. Get more info here. At U-31 in North Park, the Chaotic Good (Chicago) bring their 8-foot tall, 600-pound robotic statue and electronic party music to the masses.  DJs Gabe Vega and Colour Vision round out the lineup. Plus, it’s an Unhappy Birthday party for Blake Dorsey and Tessa Olivia. Get the deets via this link.

Saturday night, Adam Salter and El Dorado bring you Boys & Girls, featuring special guest G.L.O.V.E.S. (aka Yama Indra of Australia). One-half of the now defunct indie-dance darlings Damn Arms, Indra has played along side Cut Copy, Klaxons, Presets, M83 and Bag Raiders. His production work has been featured on numerous compilations, and he even plays runway shows with such notables as Mark Jacobs. Colour Vision (Liplock) and Adam Salter will be warming up the crowd, so get there early. More info here. At U-31 a special 2x4 set by DJs Method (SF) and SchoenyKid Wonder will be doing an opening set; you can get details at this site..

Other Thursday through Saturday events are listed on my blog. Here’s to another fun weekend in San Diego, and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
