Let's Dance

Once you’ve had enough eggnog and figgy pudding, there are some fun and free dance events in San Diego this holiday weekend.

Friday it’s The Noise Before Christmas at U31 hosted by Santa Claus aka Matt Foster. Music by Gabe Vega, Colour Vision, Saul Q and Qenoe. Photo booth by Morris and video by Mac. As an added bonus, no cover all night long.

Another fun and free option on Friday is Bonkers at Bar Pink with DJs Vaughn Avakian and Junior The Disco Punk spinning electro, disco, house, 80’s and more.

Christmas night at El Dorado, Young Guns brings you good tidings from DJs Gabe Vega, Groundfloor and David Afterlife. To get in free before 10:30 p.m., email your name to Groundfloor here.

Sunday night grab your light cycle and cruise to the Belly Up in Solana Beach for a dance party like no other. With all the hype surrounding Tron: Legacy right now, Daft Punk is on lots of people’s minds. Not only do they make a cameo in the flick but they scored the soundtrack.

What’s the next best thing to Daft Punk in the flesh? Daft Punk’d the tribute. The duo is comprised of DJ BenniBeatnik (Phx), and producer Ron DMC (Phx). Using Abelton Live and Serato Bridge along with the Akai APC40 Performance Controller, the tribute creates an experience that is as close to the real thing as it gets. The duo’s Daft Punk replica helmets are hand made by Ron DMC and chromed by the very establishment that finished the authentic Daft Punk helmets. The event also features DJ Gabe Vega, three time winner of the San Diego Music Award for Best DJ. Plus, DJs Mancat and Amiks along with award winning professional pole acrobat Flying Laura. You’ll also enjoy visuals courtesy of Artistic Laser Productions. Sounds like a great way to cap off your holiday weekend, especially because some of you might have Monday off. For more details and ticket info, click here.
